Dan Schuster, Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dan Schuster founded Remi in 1998. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dan is responsible for giving direction and leadership toward achieving the annual strategic goals and objectives of the company. He coordinates external initiatives at the highest level, creating new and innovative opportunities for growth.
Dan ensures the value proposition, philosophy, and mission of Remi are unsurpassed in providing Equipment Maintenance Management Programs.

Dan received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Prior to joining Remi, Dan worked for Delco Systems (a division of General Motors) as Service Operations Manager, Specialty Underwriters Group, LLC as Senior Vice President of Operations, Mediserve (a division of General Electric Medical Systems) as Chief Operating Officer, and REMi (a division of Royal & SunAlliance Insurance) as Vice President and General Manager.

Brent Howison, Chief Executive Officer

Brent Howison joined Remi in 2001. As President, Brent is responsible for working closely with the CEO in developing new business growth strategies, managing key partnerships, and overseeing continuous equipment maintenance management improvement initiatives. Prior to his current position, Brent performed various roles within the company, including underwriting, sales, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer before assuming the role of President.

Brent received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maine in Orono. He also obtained a Master’s in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to joining Remi, Brent worked for Royal & SunAlliance Insurance as a Senior Financial Analyst and Northland Industrial Truck Company in Accounting.

Brent holds a Property & Casualty Agent License from the North Carolina Department of Insurance and is a Certified School Risk Manager.

Van Miller

Van Miller joined Remi in 2013. As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Van is responsible for managing the financial risk and performance of the company’s equipment maintenance programs. He is also responsible for setting the strategic financial goals in conjunction with the executive management team and is liaison to McCarthy Capital, a private equity investment firm.

Van received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting and Finance from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, which included a summer studying International Accounting Practices through the University of Kansas in Paderno del Grapa, Italy. Prior to joining Remi in 2013, Van worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as an Audit Manager in Charlotte, NC and Stuttgart, Germany.

Aldo Tesi

Aldo J. Tesi is Chairman and CEO of Election Systems and Software (ES&S), the world’s largest election service provider for governments. In Mr. Tesi’s leadership role at ES&S, he successfully led market expansion during the Help America Vote Act shift to new voting systems across the county winning 58% of the market decisions. He spearheaded a successful acquisition and integration of ES&S largest competitor and he expanded the depth of product and service solutions for the election industry. Over the last 13 years, he also expanded ES&S domestic market share from 34% to 62% and established a shift to a broad recurring revenue base with both contractual and election driven services.

Prior to his ES&S experience, Mr. Tesi was President of First Data Resources, the credit card division under First Data Corporation. During his 20 years at First Data, he held many diverse positions and was credited with the growth of First Data’s Visa and MasterCard market share to 52%. He expanded the base business with the introduction of new vertically aligned products and with market expansion into Mexico with new bank alliances and the United Kingdom with the acquisition of Signet Limited.

Phil Dudley

Phil Dudley, Vice President, joined McCarthy Capital in 2009. His primary responsibilities include sourcing new investment opportunities, complex financial valuations, company and industry analysis, and the structuring and execution of private equity investments and financings. Prior to joining McCarthy Capital, Phil worked for five years in private equity and investment banking at Alta Communications and Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. He received his B.A. from Lafayette College.

Robert Y. Emmert

Robert Y. Emmert, age 41, is a Managing Partner with McCarthy Capital. Mr. Emmert manages McCarthy Capital’s Boston Office. Prior to joining McCarthy Capital, Mr. Emmert was a General Partner with Alta Communications, a media and telecommunications focused private equity firm based in Boston. He has also worked in the Investment Banking division of DB Alex. Brown and the Corporate Finance division of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. where he evaluated investment opportunities for the 1818 Fund, a private equity partnership. Mr. Emmert also assists with existing portfolio management where he serves on the board of directors of NRG Media LLC, Advantor Systems LLC and The Remi Group LLC. Mr. Emmert graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Finance.

David H. Jones

David H. Jones is currently an Operating Partner at IDEA Fund Partners; a seed and early venture firm focused on investing in and working alongside innovative technology companies in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Prior IDEA Fund Partners, David spent almost 20 years at Peak 10. As a co-founder of Peak 10, he helped build it into a half billion-dollar company. In 2017, Peak 10 merged with ViaWest to create Flexential, a market leader in the hybrid colocation, cloud, and managed services industries. Including his Board of Director’s role at Flexential, David holds several board positions in the association, higher education, and business sectors. He is greatly respected by the Charlotte business community and the greater technology industry nationwide. David is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Jan Miller

Jan Miller is the founder of a consulting practice that serves small to medium size clients in multiple Human Resource areas. Before founding Jan Miller Consulting, she spent over 30 years at The Gallup Organization where her expertise spanned from the development of scientific selection instruments and executive coaching to organizational and reorganization consulting. Over the course of 30 plus years, Ms. Miller has been instrumental in client acquisition, client development and client retention. Her history of retaining and working with the same client’s year over year results in a 13-year average. Many of these clients are known brands including Disney, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Stryker, Harley- Davidson and U.S. Bank. Prior to Gallup, Ms. Miller was employed in social services. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She resides in Omaha, NE. with her husband and has two grown children.
